Lena Irene Thompson, 92, of Parkersburg, passed away Sept. 3, 2012, at Eagle Pointe Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Rockport, a daughter to the late Jack and Minnie Smith.
She was a homemaker and a farmer and loved to quilt. She also served as Sunday School teacher and Song Leader for many years at Gates Ridge UMC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carol Thompson; son, Ronald Thompson; sister, Opal Gates; two grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She is survived by her son, Clair Thompson (Janice) of Parkersburg; daughter, Lucille Murrey of Vincent, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Gail Santee of Vienna; brothers, Everett Smith (Betty) of Parkersburg and Vernon Smith (Grace) of Washington, W.Va.; sisters, Nina Allman (Norman) of Mineral Wells, Ireta McCoy of Parkersburg and Betty Skinner of Parkersburg; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Vera Archer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
