Virginia A. Fisher

Virginia A. Fisher, 94, of Spencer, W.Va., died Sept. 2, 2012, at the Miletree Center in Spencer after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 4, 1918, in Roane County, a daughter of the late Earl and Rosa Clarkson Keffer.

She worked for Grover Foster Hedges for most of her life and enjoyed making hooked braided rugs and quilting. She was a member of Keffer United Methodist Church and later Spencer Tabernacle Church.

Virginia is survived by two daughters, Sandra Golden and her husband, Maurice, of Peniel, W.Va., and Linda Hoff and her husband, Bill, of Spencer; two sons, Richard Fisher of Clover, W.Va., and Steve Fisher and his wife, Robin, of Spencer; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Blake Fisher; second husband, Grover Tanner; one sister, Verneda Rhodes; and two half brothers, Ronald and Ronford Clarkson.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Danny Whited and Bill Walton officiating. Burial will be in Clover Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
