Buying votes with lies, fears

September 2, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

Karl Rove is running the campaign and super Pac for Mitt Romney. He is the brilliant, but devious political animal that gave us George Bush. Bush gave us the unnecessary war financed by China, a deep recession, bailed out Wall Street, and lowered taxes to the 1 percent. Now he wants to give us Romney.

I find this pretty scary. No lie is too big, no plan to devious for Rove. Now Romney sounds like his puppet. He has no core values and changes what he believes every day.

Rove started his lie campaign with there are death panels in Obamacare. Some Americans believed the lie and still do, not realizing the benefits they will miss. His next scare was "We have to take our country back." This nonsense was racial, but worked.

The fiasco of the birth certificate is the most ridiculous. The birthers took it to court several times. Judges threw it out for lack of evidence. His birth certificate is real. People should be angry for being mislead. Their latest fiasco is that Obama cut $700 billion from Medicare. This is another lie. That $700 billion is the savings over the next 10 years. Doctors will be paid less and insurance companies can only make a certain amount of profit.

Romney accused Obama of a negative campaign. If you watch the news - besides Fox - you know Romney wins the Academy Award for the most flip-flopping negative campaign in our history. Republicans play the blame game, but have no plan to help the middle class or how they are going to fix any problems. The only Republican plan is to make Medicare a voucher program, privatize Social Security, cut taxes for the 1 percent, cut education, stop Medicaid for children and make abortions illegal even for rape, incest and life of the mother.

If that is what you want for America, then vote for Romney. Democrats believe if you raise taxes by 4 percent on the 1 percent as it was under Clinton, you can save the people programs and also pay down the debt. For this to happen, Democrats must take back Congress from the tea party Republicans.

If lies, fear and millions buy the voters in this election, we will lose our country as we know it. It is that simple.
