Ashley Nicole Pitts

August 28, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

Ashley, child of God, it is time to say goodbye. Ashley Nicole Pitts lived until Aug. 21, 2012, but she will be eternally loved, cherished and remembered as the little girl with dreams of being a nurse, standing on the chair stuffing the turkey on Thanksgiving at Grandma's house and riding the scariest roller coasters.

She grew into her pre-teens, balancing on her tippy toes in recitals at Kelly's School of Dance, singing opera with Mrs. Mary Eberhart and going to Camp Cowen to learn about God's love; and to meet boys! She sang soprano in the PHS Accapella Choir and was a high kicking Red Wing at Parkersburg High School.

She was born on May 13, 1981 in Parkersburg, W.Va. In her youth, she was a Brownie with a crooked smile, member of Stout Memorial Methodist Church, Youth Choir/ Chancel Choir and a piano student who thrived on the pressure of performing at recitals, but could rarely find time to practice! She wrote poetry and won an entry in the Wood County Schools, "Wood Whispers" publication in her 9th grade year. After graduating in 1999, she attended High Point University in High Point, N.C. and graduated from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology in Columbus, Ohio. Later, she earned her Certified Nursing Assistance Degree, became a CNA and while residing in Parkersburg with her two children, was employed by TLC In-Home Caregivers.

Ashley was the only child of Ginger Dobson (Pitts) and Richard Pitts and was the step-daughter of Sharon Pitts. She was surrounded by love and support by her late paternal grandparents, Jack and Glena Pitts; maternal grandparents, Arden and Beatrice Dobson; step-grandparents, Al and Audrey Baker; and her uncles, aunts and cousins. Ashley was given the gift of motherhood with the birth of her two children, Sophia, age 5, and Maximillian, age 4. Nightly family dinners followed by wrestling/tickling matches, trips to the playground, singing nursery rhymes, swimming, boating, carving pumpkins, bike riding and playing with her loyal dog, Macaroni, are happy lifetime memories. She was a fan of Ohio State and WVU football/ basketball, roller blading, amusement parks, family beach trips, cooking and all genres of music. She was an animal lover, who lovingly doted on every pet throughout her lifetime.

Private funeral services with family and friends were conducted to honor her life at Ellyson Mortuary in Glenville, W.Va., with burial at Collins Cemetery in Stumptown, W.Va. on Aug. 25, 2012.

Ashley kept a Prayer List in her nightstand for those she prayed for on a daily basis. At the top of the list were her two children, followed by her family and then friends. Anyone wishing to give a donation in honor of her memory may contact Calhoun Bank: attention, Neva Bailey, for her two children, Sophia Beam and Maximillian Beam residing with Ginger in Parkersburg.
