Don’t let closing hurt care

August 26, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

The recent letter from Camden Clark Medical Center announcing the closing of the St. Joseph's Campus indicated the importance of not holding on to sentimentality and having a willingness to accept change for progress. However, while many area people were saddened to hear of St. Joseph's closing from the aspect of having so many memories there, top concern with most people is quality care - not the loss of a beautiful landmark.

The health care system as we know it will drastically change. Many people are discussing the fact that it will soon be more difficult to see a physician and find it difficult to believe that one hospital will have enough beds, especially in an unusual emergency situation. Considering the huge amount of aging baby boomers and new people coming into the health care system as a result of the Affordable Health Care Act, we can only hope that great care went into this life-affecting decision.
