Helen Garnet Hartley Moore, 95, of Ravenswood, W.Va., died Aug. 24, 2012, at Ravenswood Village, Ravenswood.

She was born Nov. 22, 1916, in Medina, W.Va., the daughter of the late Howard Dean Hartley and Cora Frances Moore Hartley. She graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1935. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, Ladies VFW Auxiliary 6669, Democrat Women's Club, a Ladies Bridge Club, the Senior Citizens Group of Ravenswood and the Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, gardening, sewing, making seasonal decorations and being with her family.

She is survived by her brother, Robert C. Hartley; son, Dean Wesley Moore (Janet); daughter, Dee Ann Moore Simon; grandchildren, Paul Moore (Beverly), Melinda Bochstahler (Bill), Bill Moore (Julie), Sean Simon and Heather Simon Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Madison Moore, Monroe Moore, Jasper Smith, Aaron Simon, Garrett Simon, Jack Moore, Martin Moore and Christine Moore.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood. Rev. Jim Plyburn will officiate. Burial will be in the Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood, W.Va. Friends may visit the family at the church on Tuesday from 1-2:30 p.m., time of service.

The family has established an annual scholarship in memory of Helen Hartley Moore for Jackson County All-Age 4-H Camp. Donations may be sent to Dr. Heather Smith, 1220 Barn Brook Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
