Ruth C. Lake

Ruth C. Lake, 84, of Hurricane, W.Va., died Aug. 10, 2012, at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital.

Her husband of 62 years, Donald L. Lake, 83, died one day later at the same hospital.

They were both born in Parkersburg, W.Va.; he a son of the late Elmer E. and Ruby (Bays) Lake and her a daughter of the late Pete and Mollie (Argabrite) Miihlbach.

Donald was a West Virginia State Trooper and also worked for the West Virginia Parkways Authority. Ruth worked for West Virginia Division of Highways and Workers Compensation. He was a United States Marine veteran having served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the West Virginia State Police Retired Members and Troopers Associations and the Masonic Lodge. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

They are survived by three children, Pete Lake of St. Albans, W.Va., Michelle Lake of Richmond, Va., and David Lake of Hurricane, W.Va.; and a grandson, Kyle Lake of Hurricane, W.Va. He is also survived by a brother, Dean Lake of Newport Beach, Calif.; and a sister, Bonnie Barnes of York, Pa.

In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by a daughter, Mollie Lea Lake. Ruth was also preceded in death by two sisters, Xylpha Gangloff and Imogene Pack.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. James McGhee and Evangelist Tim Jorgenson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery North with military honors by American Legion Post 15 and Masonic Rites by Parkersburg Masonic Lodge 169 for Donald. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30-11 a.m.
