What's in a name? Last week we had a few letter writers that seem oddly interested in letting everyone know that our president's middle name is Hussein. One writer neglected, however, to point out what the "L" in their middle name stood for? Could it be "Lenin," comrade? The other writer forgot to put Jimmy Earl Carter's and Bill Jefferson Clinton's middle names down when they wrote their letter.
Does it really make a difference in what a person's middle name is? Hussein is a very common name in Africa and Asia, big deal! Of course the reason these, and many other, writers make an issue of the president's name is they think voters are stupid and easy to manipulate. They could just focus on what they think is wrong with the president's policies, but no, they just have to go for the easy cheap shot of implying fear from an unfamiliar name of Middle Eastern origin. Hey, did you know that David and John are also names that originated from the Middle East? I guess we shouldn't trust those people either.
If you don't like the president or his policies then fine, but show the intelligence not to resort to measuring the worth of a person on the basis of their middle name.
