Jennifer Marie Crowson, 38, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Aug. 6, 2012, at her home, following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 23, 1974, in Tampa, Fla., a daughter of the late Roma Junior Canter and Rebecca Jane Payne Canter of Parkersburg.
Jennifer was a graduate of Ripley High School, and later obtained her Associates Degree of Applied Science from Ohio Valley College, where she was a member of the Division I Ohio Valley College Flying Scots basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. Staying fit and active was always an important part of Jennifer's life. She later obtained her Regents Bachelors Degree of Art and Regents Bachelors Degree of Criminal Justice from West Virginia University. Throughout her college career, she excelled year after year ranking scholastically on the Deans List. She was currently attending Boston University Graduate School. She was a Christian by faith and child of God.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, Derek Lamont Crowson; their four precious daughters, Daysia, McKinley, Rebecca and Elisabeth Crowson, all of the home; one sister, Jill C. Canter of Ripley, W.Va.; one nephew, Matthew Brown of Ripley, W.Va.; two nieces, Chelsea and Miranda Brown, both also of Ripley, W.Va.; her paternal grandmother, Hattie Baze of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Hope Canter; her paternal grandfather, Ernie Baze; and her maternal grandparents, Rollin J. and Iva Lee Litton Payne.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Kent Cutright officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson Memorial Gardens of Cottageville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
