Rev. Beverly J. Jordan, 74, of Beckley W.Va., formerly of Mason County, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday morning, July 30, 2012, at the Bowers Hospice House following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1937 at Apple Farm, W.Va., daughter of the late William A. and Eda Wilson Stalnaker. Beverly was a college graduate, a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church and was a retired minister with the Pentecostal Church.
Beverly is survived by her sons, William Campbell and wife Kathy of Evans and John K. Jordan and wife Stephanie of Crab Orchard; daughters, Yonna Hooker and husband Johnny of Parkersburg, Charlotte Jordan of Morgantown, Rebecca Sargent and husband Charles of Harrisonburg, Va. and Susan Dewees of Ripley, whom she termed as her "special daughter"; step-daughters, Gail Rectenwald and husband Francis of Sandyville and Sandra Hamilton and husband Jimmy of Coolville, Ohio. She is also survived by one brother Larry Stalnaker and his wife Gloria of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and a host of individuals to whom she was a spiritual mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Gene K. Jordan; a step-daughter, Sharon Rollins of Leon; a brother, William Stalnaker; and a sister Barbara Hathaway.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Josiah Sargent, Jonathan Sargent, Jordan Bailey and Derek Bailey along with sons-in-law Charles Sargent and Johnny Hooker.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Jimmy Thornton and Rev. George Mandakunis officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Leon.
Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
