John Earl Clegg, 59, of Pettyville, W.Va., passed away on Aug. 1, 2012, at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1953, in Parkersburg, a son of Earl E. Clegg of Pettyville and the late Dolores M. Anderson Clegg.
John was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School with the class of 1971. He had worked at Corning Glass (Schott) for 31 years and Eramet Marietta Inc. as a furnace operator. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. Along with his wife, he was a Revolutionary Living Historian and he was an honorary Horner having handcrafted many powder horns for himself and other Revolutionary re-enactors.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dolores J. "Shorty" Collins Clegg; two daughters, Michele L. Railey of Mineral Wells and Vanessa J. (Bryan) Bonisteel of Rochester, N.Y.; one sister, Beverly (Robert) LaRocque of Florida; two brothers, Russell (Kathy) Clegg of Mineral Wells and Clifford Clegg of Byse, Va.; five grandchildren, Ethan, John, William, Alex and Miah.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Steve Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
