Ella Mae Meeks

Ella Mae Meeks, 88, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away on July 29, 2012, at her home.

She was born June 16, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edgar R. and Bertha E. Winland Shaw.

Ella was a homemaker and had been employed in an airplane factory during the war times. She also spent time working in a bakery and marble factory over the years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and most of all, her family.

She is survived by five daughters, Carol Sullivan, Dottie Grimes, Kathy Parsons, Lana Fischer, and Pam Hune; five sons, Gary Meeks, Ted Downing, Eddie Meeks, Edward Meeks, and Sam Meeks.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Penny Fulton; and two sons, Ronnie Meeks and Carl Downing.

She is also survived by one sister, Mary Unsworth; two brothers, Harry and Johnny Winland; several grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, daughter and two sons, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl E. Downing; second husband, Edward H. Meeks; one sister; and one brother.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Rev. Gregory T. Myers officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F Cemetery of St. Marys, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
