It's well known that in the past I have been very critical of our local authority and our elected officials. I took an interest because I was a victim of severe domestic violence and felt further victimized by the local police and judicial system. To say briefly, I was severely beaten and almost killed with a large screwdriver by a person.
So the police were involved, an arrest was eventually made. I was harassed throughout the process by this monster, yet the police would get mad at me for calling them, like I was bothering them. We ended up in court, the monster pleaded guilty and received unsupervised probation.
That wasn't the end of the disaster brought on by our local authority. I went to family court after this conviction. So I got yelled at a lot and forced to pay the very person who beat me and my mother, monthly child support. He was even given full custody of my son, which I now never see. I know what the saying all the crying in the world will do you no good truly means now. This monster makes in excess of $3,000 per month and I'm a single mother of two and make less than one-third of that, yet I still pay him? So I got beat repeatedly, assaulted in other ways, had my son taken away and have to pay the offender for doing it.
However, I recently found a bright spot, Detective Modesitt of the Wood County Sheriff's Department. She deals with child victims and is now and has been, very caring, understanding and thorough. What a wonderful feeling to know that there is at least one person who gets it in a position to do something. If she reads this, please run for sheriff or mayor. It would be the best thing that happened to this community in a long, long time. We need more community leaders like her.
