Dental clinics needed

July 22, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

I am writing over an issue few people ever hear of. We have many dialysis patients in our area. Under the law dialysis patients are always treated for the kidney failure. (I think this is an awesome law.)

However, we have many issues we are not treated for. Most of us have no coverage for dental issues. I have been trying to tolerate a toothache all weekend long. I have teeth in desperate need of being extracted. My teeth keep me off the transplant list, or perhaps I would already have a new kidney.

We live on small fixed incomes and $100-$150 a tooth for extractions makes that option out of our reach. I would love to see some local dentists contact our social worker and donate some of their time. If they agreed to even do one patient each then we would start moving in the right direction.
