William ‘Bill’ Bradfield

William E. "Bill" Bradfield, 78, of St. Marys, W.Va. passed away on July 17, 2012, at his home.

He was born on June 10, 1934, to the late Donald A. and Lillian D. (Myer) Bradfield.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Faye Bradfield; two children, John (Cozette) Bradfield and Alice Faye Bonanno, all of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Jeff) Schramm of Marietta, Ohio, Meagan (Phil) Zoladz of Ada, Ohio, Seth Halstead of Pasadena, Texas and Maryn Halstead of San Antonio, Texas; two great-grandsons, Parker Schramm of Marietta and Blake Zoladz of Ada, Ohio; sister, Jennifer Neelen; two nieces, Anne (John) McKnight of Morgantown, W.Va. and Melissa Wilson of St. Marys; a nephew, Jim Wolfe of Belpre, Ohio; six great nieces and great nephews; furry friends, Lucy and Molly; and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Wolfe and Sue Laine Bradfield.

As a lifelong native of Pleasants County, Bill was a 1954 graduate of St. Marys High School. He entered the work force at American Cyanamid, Willow Island Plant, in 1957 and worked there until his retirement in 1994. He served his community as an active fireman with the St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department for 59 years. Bill also served his community as a member of the Pleasants County Agricultural Youth Fair Board, the Pleasants County Sesquicentennial Committee, and the St. Marys Christmas Light Committee. In 2002, he was recognized by former Secretary of State, Joe Manchin III as a recipient of the West Virginia Distinguished Mountaineer Award. Bill enjoyed meeting his former work friends for breakfast once a month, camping, boating, and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Pastors Kelly Snyder and Rex Cox. Interment will be in the Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
