Sara M. Richmond, 84, of Parkersburg, died peacefully at her home Sunday morning, July 8, 2012.
Sara was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Bedford, Ohio, the daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie Johnson Carroll.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the West Virginia Conference of United Methodist Women. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1943 and attended Mountain State Business College.
She is survived by her husband, Richard M. "Dick" Richmond; daughters, Cathy (Richard) Buttermore and Bobbi (Randy) Jones of Parkersburg and Tina (Daniel) Olivas of Addison, Texas; son, John Gibbons of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; stepdaughters, Catherine and Nancy Richmond of Parkersburg; stepson, Bill Richmond of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Richard Buttermore of Belpre, Alicia (Greg) Miller of Oklahoma and Julie Miller (Jay) Stroud of Dallas, Texas; several great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert S. Gibbons; a son, Steve Gibbons; a brother, George Carroll; and grandsons, Scott Buttermore, Dicky Richmond and Logan Richmond.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1101 Market St., Parkersburg; the Rev. Lisa Taylor and the Rev. Cindy Eakle will officiate. A private family graveside service will be at Pleasant View Cemetery; Pastor Jerry Caplinger will officiate. The visitation will be at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
