Ruth Maxine Cantwell

Ruth Maxine Greathouse Cantwell, 77, formerly of Belpre, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2012, at 1:50 p.m. at the Harmar Place in Marietta, Ohio.

She was born March 15, 1935 in Jackson County, W.Va., to the late Clyde and Beulah Barnhart. Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her, with kind words for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband and father of her children, Donald W. Greathouse, on September 13, 1976. Also, by her second husband, Kenneth D. Cantwell, on October 24, 1993. In addition to her spouses, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde Barnhart and Thomas Barnhart. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Larry) Moody of Whipple, Ohio; her son, Donald "Steven" (Janet) Greathouse of Barlow, Ohio; and a step-daughter, Brenda (Mark) Vanhorn of Belpre, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy (Doug) Aultman of Barlow, Larry (Ashley) Moody of Johnson City, Tenn. (currently serving in Kuwait), Stefani (Bastiaan) Smit of Perl, Germany and Justin Moody of Whipple; step-grandson, Cody Vanhorn of Belpre; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Aultman and Johannah Smit.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Sam Bever officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Curtis Dehmlow and the staff at Harmar Place for the loving care given to Maxine.
