John D. Kingery, 86, of Walton, W.Va., died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, W.Va.
He was born Aug. 15, 1925 in Lockney, W.Va., a son of the late W.C. and Susie Frame Kingery. He was a graduate of Normantown High School and was retired from the Roane County Board of Education with more than 32 years of service as a teacher, assistant principal and principal at Walton High School. He was also the assistant superintendent and superintendent of Roane County Schools. He was a member of the Baptist Class at the Walton Union Church.
He is survived by his wife, Claudena "Dena" Coleman Kingery; three nieces, Carol and Richard Gainer of Shinnston, W.Va., and Susie James and Janet Mace, both of Lockney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth James.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Jerry Board officiating. Burial will be in the Looney Cemetery near Walton. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
