Yoko Yokoyama Cassady

Yoko Yokoyama Cassady, 78, of Washington, W.Va., passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Eagle Pointe Nursing Home.

She was born on April 24, 1934, in Iwana, Hokkaido, Japan, a daughter of Yoshkieh and Riyo Suda Yokoyama. On Dec. 9, 1971, in Sapporo, Japan, she married George Cassady, who preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1993. He was career military and they spent their married life traveling on his different assignments. They later retired and lived in Parkersburg, W.Va. She was a member of Foreign Wives Club, Grace Gospel Church and attended Christ Mission Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Mutoko Siki; a son, Tadahero Yokoyama; two granddaughters; and two grandsons, all of Japan; her friends and staff at Eagle Point Nursing Home; and Buddhist friends, Hideko and Keith Sakiyama, The Wanzo Family, Lui Yeh Cunningham, Yasuko Hughes, Chikako Hizer and Midori Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. She will be placed to rest beside her husband in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
