Vacation Bible School to be held

The Church of Christ will conduct a Vacation Bible School beginning today through Wednesday evening. Sunday morning class begins at 9:30 a.m. All evening classes will start at 7 p.m. and end around 8:30 p.m. There will be classes for all ages, including adults and everyone in the community is invited to attend. If someone would like to come and doesn't have a way, call Tom and Ruth Charles at 557-3053 and a ride will be provided.

Pennsville Volunteer Fire Department will meet at 8 p.m. Monday at the firehouse.

Pennsville community extends sympathy to the Rita Sanders family. They used to live in the area many years ago.

Ellen and Tom Harris had guests for Father's Day at the home Sunday. Attending were Bette Harris, Rita Martin, Nicole Martin, Troy Smith, Mandy Marshall, Troy Ledford, Hailey Marshall and Syvia Ledford.

Friday evening there was a birthday party for Carolyn Thomas at the home of Lou Bowman.

Those attending were Bev and Rob Sidwell, Harmon Thomas, and special guest Carolyn Thomas and hostess Lou Bowman. Refreshments were served and they played games.

On Wednesday Bev and Rob Sidwell went to Logan and had lunch with Dorothy Winter of New Straitsville. After dinner they went shopping and into Athens. On the way home they brought a surprise for Mae and attended Bible study at Pennsville.

Verna Grubbs was a visitor at the home of Mary Yerian recently. She'd had a cold and is now well.

Mary Yerian heard from Gene (Grimes) Hill and she had a cold and is now better.

On Tuesday Mary Yerian and Gretchen Yearian of Newcomerstown went to Newark to visit with Connie Wallace who is in a care center there. Connie was glad to see her.

On Saturday Mae and Bev went to Maplewood Cemetery to take solar lights to Bob's grave for Father's Day. They went shopping and got more to take the next time.

Shelly Mason of Lubbock, Texas called on Thursday night and stated the temperature had been 90 to 105 degrees.

She states that in the evening it is cool enough to go outside and go to the store.
