PARKERSBURG - Incumbent Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy was the biggest spender and biggest fundraiser among the primary election candidates, according to the latest financial statements filed with the county clerk.
The post-primary candidate financial report was due June 19.
Sandy, a Democrat and incumbent sheriff, listed Robert Astorg as his treasurer and reported year-to-date contributions totaling $22,454 and expenses of $9,250.

Bud Williams, Democrat, sheriff's candidate listed total contributions of $2,526.44, and total expenses of $2,524.42. His treasurer was listed as Amanda Vierling; with contributions reported from Edsel Westfall, $100; Dean Furner, $100, and Bud Williams, $10.
Michael Burdette, Republican, sheriff's candidate, lists Jerema Webb as treasurer, reporting a total of $3,478.65 in contributions, and $2,422.65 in expenditures; a contribution of $500 was listed from Beth Jones.
Roger Payne, Republican, sheriff's candidate, listed Jennifer McIntire as treasurer, and $623.80 in both contributions and expenses.

Rich Shaffer, incumbent, unopposed assessor, listed a total of $448.80 in year-to-date contributions and expenditures.
Unopposed incumbent prosecutor Jason Wharton's statement lists Paul L. Ross as treasurer and a total of $966 in contributions and expenses.
Barry Murphy, Republican magistrate candidate, listed Gary D. Dailey as his committee treasurer, with total contributions of $5,865 and $5,197.02 in expenses. Contributions were reported from Kristy Fox, $100; Rex Foster, $50, and a candidate loan of $1,075.
Joe Kuhl, Republican, magistrate, named Donna Kuhl as treasurer and reported $1,475 total in contributions and $1,216 in expenses to date. A $100 contribution from Matt Jones was listed.
Robin Waters, Republican magistrate listed Dave L. Waters as her treasurer and reported $1,025 in contributions and $2,809 in expenses, with a $500 contribution from Ray and Beth Fanta and two loans from the candidate, one for $1,000, the other for $1,050.
Rachel Ferguson, Republican, magistrate candidate listed William H. Ferguson as her treasurer. Contributions were listed of $310 and expenses of $812. A $310 contribution from the candidate was listed.
Joyce Purkey, Democrat, incumbent magistrate listed Andrea Ferrell as her treasurer and reported contributions of $425 with expenses of $2,300.
Brenda Marshall, Republican, incumbent magistrate listed Terri A. Gard as treasurer with contributions of $1,196 and expenditures of $1,081.
Stephen Woodburn, Republican sheriff's candidate reported total year to date election contributions of $2,771 and expenses to date of $2,559.
