Rebecca Alcinda Smith, 83, of Norfolk, Va., formerly of Pennsboro, passed away June 15, 2012, at her daughter's residence in Norfolk.
She was born July 4, 1929, at Beason, W.Va., a daughter of the late James C. and Lena Corine (Baker) Tallman.
Mrs. Smith was a school teacher at Greenwood Grade School and Buckley Elementary at Alexandria, Va. She graduated from Pennsboro High in 1947, Potomac State College in 1950 and West Virginia University in 1952. She was a member of Beason U. M. Church and attended Norview Baptist Church in Norfolk, Va.
Surviving is her daughter, Mary Sharon Williamson (Jon) of Norfolk; grandchildren, Martin K. Bailey II of Pennsboro and Cheryl L. Tyree of Norfolk; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bailey and Breeanna McNeal; and brothers, Charles Tallman of Pennsboro and Jennings Tallman of East Canton, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Andrew Smith; and brothers, Dewey and Eber Tallman.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with Evangelist Terry Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Joseph's Mills, W.Va. Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m.
