James Lloyd Cox, 77, of Ravenswood, went to be with the Lord June 6, 2012, in Parkersburg.
He was born June 24, 1934, in Jackson County, a son of Gay W. Cox and Naomi Digman Cox. He was a farmer and Social Worker for the state of West Virginia.
He was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He worked much of his life with children and the Boy Scouts. He participated in Native American programs for many years. He was a member of Grange 506 and Masonic Lodge in Buckhannon.
He is survived by Lucille Cox, his wife of 57 years, of Ravenswood; brother: Marshall and Evelyn Cox, Ravenswood, W.Va.; his children, Mark and Vickie Cox, California; Vincent and Dean Ann Cox, Ripley; Kimela and Victor Christian, Millwood, W.Va.; and Kathy Thomas, Mississippi; grandchildren: Ashley, Nathan, Casey, Daniel, Bryan, Jason, Alexis, Heather, and Amantha; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2 p.m. at Silverton United Methodist Church. Pastor Pam Ritchie and Pastor Allen Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Services provided by Ashton Lodge #12 of Ravenswood. Friends and family may visit the family at Roush Funeral Home today from 6-9 p.m.
