James "Jim" O'Neal and Mary Kathryn "Kay" Umpleby of Parkersburgwill celebrate their 65th anniversary with an open house celebration from 2-4 p.m. June 17 at the New Hope Baptist Church on Rosemar Road in Vienna. They were married June 15, 1947, at the North Parkersburg Baptist Church in Parkersburg, by the late Rev. Gilbert B. Moore.
She is the daughter of the late Harvey C. and Maude Mullennax Simmons. She is a homemaker, mother, active with the American Baptist Women for many years and baby-sat at home.
He is the son of the late Mildred Hays Umpleby and Russell Umpleby. He is retired from Horner and Harrison. He enjoys golf and was a baseball coach in the Vienna Recreation.

They are parents of seven children, Ruth Peters of Parkersburg, Mary (Dana) Campbell of Parkersburg, Charlene (Steve) Farnsworth of Boaz, Darlene Pasko of New Vienna, Ohio, Kathy (Dave) Lynch of Vienna, Carl (Kathy) Umpleby of Fremont, Calif. and Paul (Shawna) Umpleby of Parkersburg. They have 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
