Put litter in its place

May 20, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

I like to jog for exercise and peace of mind. Quite often my route takes me out Waverly Road in Williamstown. Once I pass the cemetery, I truly begin to enjoy the sights of spring. I see beautiful flowers, trees, wildlife, the river; ahh, relaxing.

What's that I see up ahead? Trash! There are pop cans, fast-food wrappers, beer cans, beer bottles, liquor bottles, and all sorts of garbage discarded on the sides of the road. I am reminded of the television commercial from the 1970s with the teary-eyed Indian, Iron Eyes Cody, standing on top of the hill looking down at the destruction of his surroundings.

Let's keep Williamstown beautiful and put litter in its place.
