VIENNA - A new hair and nail salon is offering classic services with a modern twist on Grand Central Avenue.
Le Colour Bar, co-owned by Julie Hinton and Julie Gilbert, has been open since April 16 and features a bar in the middle of the salon where all hair coloring is done. The bar inspiration comes from salons in bigger cities and provides extra convenience for the stylists.
"The handy thing for stylists to have to work with is a color bar," said Hinton. "We decided that we would venture into a big bar for our stylists to work off of."

The bar also frees up space in the rest of the salon to have other stylists do regular cuts and styling without having to wait for the coloring to be finished.
"Anything to make it comfortable for our clients to where we can service them the best," Hinton said.
Hinton said the salon has stayed busy since its opening and has received good feedback on the bar.
"It's been fabulous; all of our customers love it," Hinton said.
Gilbert said the bar also received positive feedback from the state board inspector.
"She was extremely impressed with the idea, and she'd never seen anything like it," Gilbert said.
Both Hinton and Gilbert have been in the salon industry for more than 20 years and had worked together before opening Le Colour Bar. When they saw the opportunity to open their own salon, they had to take it.
"It was a good time to take care of the rest of the stylists and venture out into some openings that previously we weren't allowed to be able to do," Hinton said. "It was just a good time."
The full-service salon has 15 stylists and three nail technicians on staff right now, but Hinton said there is room to expand and add more stylists in the future.
Along with adding more stylists, the salon hopes to add more services as well, including permanent makeup application.
"We'd just like to stay positive and energetic and keep adding things for the Mid-Ohio Valley to experience," Gilbert said.
Gilbert said the positive energy around the salon has been one of the best parts of opening so far.
"We've worked together, some of us, for 20 years," Gilbert said.
Hinton said they are waiting for their official sign to put outside the salon. After they receive the sign, they plan to have an open house where residents can come and meet the stylists and tour the salon.
The date of the open house hasn't been set yet.
"We just want to become a place that when people say our name it has a good, positive feel to it," Gilbert said.
