Prep Softball
Ashlie LaFalce blasted two home runs and finished with five runs-batted-in to help lead Doddridge County to an 8-3 win at Wirt County during the fifth place LKC game.
Kelsey Waggoner tossed four innings of no-hit ball and fanned seven while Michaela Smith was 2 for 2 with two RBIs as Ritchie County won its sixth straight LKC title by defeating Roane County, 13-1, in five innings.
Waggoner and Abby Burgess, who was 3 for 3, had solo home runs while Micah Ray blasted a three-run bomb to help lead Ritchie County to a 12-1, five-inning, victory versus Braxton County in the LKC semifinals. Rebel Cassidy Ray had two doubles and a pair of RBIs.
Belpre's Natalie Perry scattered six hits in a complete-game effort and had 12 strikeouts, but was a tough-luck 2-1 loser to Wahama.
Parkersburg's Cassidy Newbrough won both games of a doubleheader against Huntington. Big Red Kaleigh Westfall had the game-winning RBI single to lift PHS to a 4-3 win in game one while Mallory Goots delivered a three-run homer to help the hosts win game two, 10-1, in five innings.
Katie Buckbee connected for a solo homer and had two RBIs as Ravenswood won at Gilmer County, 9-4, to take seventh place in the LKC.
Kasey Blosser and Casey Lassiter, the winning pitcher, both went 2 for 3 as Roane County beat St. Marys, 3-2, in the LKC semifinals.
Prep Baseball
Ryan Epperly singled home Drew Nestor with the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Belpre defeated Wahama 2-1. Nestor also earned the decision after striking out 14 in a complete-game effort.
Clay Walters drove in two runs and recorded two putouts on a triple play turned in by Parkersburg South in a 4-2 win against Winfield. With runners at first and second base, Walters caught a line drive, stepped on second base then threw to first base to double up the baserunners.
Seth Skinner delivered a two-out bases-clearing three-run double in the top of the seventh as Gilmer County knocked off Notre Dame, 10-6. Titan Adam Beall went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a trio of RBIs.
Seth Cottrill drove in a game-high five runs as Ritchie County routed Tyler Consolidated, 15-4, in five innings.
Austin Russell went 3 for 3 with three RBIs as Federal Hocking defeated Waterford 9-4.
Tim Hendershot twirled a five-hit shutout and Justin Dynes went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI as Roane County blanked Ravenswood, 5-0.
