Simonton Windows to hire 160 full-time workers

By JOLENE CRAIG (jcraig@newsandsentinel.com) , Parkersburg News and Sentinel

PARKERSBURG - Simonton Windows has immediate job openings at its West Virginia facilities with a need to hire 160 new employees.

"Our new Asure product line is doing very well and the market demands mean we need more people to keep up with the need," said Kathy Ziprik, public relations officer for Simonton.

The full-time positions are for production operators, primarily in the areas of glass, glazing, vinyl and loading operations in Ritchie County, as well as extrusion machine operators at SimEx in St. Marys.

"While we are hiring in St. Marys, it will not be as many people as we are hiring in Ritchie County because the vinyl operations are not as large," Ziprik said.

Already the company has hired 40 full-time employees to fill the need at the facilities, which have grown in recent weeks.

"We're excited to be able to bring more jobs to West Virginia and enrich the local economy," said Tony Atzbach, plant manager for Simonton Windows, in a press release. "We're operating on a five-day work week, and we have openings in both our day and evening shifts for full-time workers."

Fact Box

About the Jobs

All 160 openings are full-time positions for production operators, primarily in the areas of glass, glazing, vinyl and loading operations in Ritchie County, as well as extrusion machine operators at SimEx in St. Marys.

The company already has hired 40 full-time workers, but the needs of the facilities have escalated in recent weeks.

Those hired in the long-term positions will be eligible for full benefits after 90 days, receive competitive wages and immediately be eligible for overtime work.

Both Atzbach and Ziprik see these new positions as a positive - not only for Simonton Windows but also for the state and its residents.

"This is a really good step in helping the economy of West Virginia and the people," Ziprik said.

Along with the growth of the product line, the need for more employees is also due to the company having consolidated some of its operations into the West Virginia facilities late last year, which resulted in a larger workload.

To fill these open positions, Simonton is using the following hiring agencies: in the Parkersburg area: PSA at (866) 562-7482 and Adecco at 304-422-0288 (Adecco is also for the SimEx positions), in the Clarksburg area: United Talent at (800) 588-1594 and Kelly Services at (304) 295-0205. Contact these agencies for more information about the job openings or to apply.

"We are happy to be able to hire 160 people and always hope to be able to hire more in the future," Ziprik said.
