MARIETTA - When Williamstown residents Jason and Molly Floding held the first My Mommy Mart children's consignment event in the fall of 2009, 26 consignors participated.
During the sale this weekend - the sixth to be held since 2009 - more than 100 consignors will participate and thousands of items are expected to be sold.
"We started with 26 consignors and of the 26, at least 20 are still consigning with us," said Molly Floding.
The event will be open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. It will be held at the Junior Fair Building at the Washington County Fairgrounds on Front Street in Marietta.
There will be children's clothing and toys included in the sale as well as maternity clothing, strollers, nursery furniture and a wide variety of other items.
"Friday morning at 10 when we open, there will be a line of people waiting to get in," she said. "As a consignor it's a great way to recycle your kids' gently used items. For shoppers, most everything is priced 50 to 75 percent off what they'd find at a retail store."
Floding pointed out that all items are gently used and some still have the original tags on them. Consignors set their own prices and receive 70 percent of their sales.
Although she expects that at least 80 percent of items included in the sale will be sold, she said leftovers will be donated to local organizations such as the Lynn Street Church of Christ in Parkersburg.
