VIENNA- A fundraiser will be held in Vienna to benefit the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival.
The annual basket/purse bingo event will be April 27 at the Vienna Community Building in Jackson Memorial Park.
''We normally hold a couple of bingo events to benefit the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival,'' said event organizer Tammy Moore. ''The money raised supports a lot of the things that go on during the festival, like the fireworks and entertainment.''
Prizes for the event will feature all Longaberger products, including baskets and purses.
Moore said the bingo has raised around $3,000 at past events.
''This year we are hoping to raise more,'' she said.
There will be a basket and purse bingo event at 7 p.m. April 27.
The event will be held at the Vienna Community Building in Jackson Memorial Park.
The event is being held to raise money for Parkersburg Homecoming.
One way to entice more people to come is a coverall game with a Mother's Day Tote and $100 in gift cards, donated by some of the sponsors.
Tickets for the event are $20 for 20 games.
Early bird tickets can be purchased before the event at Mulberry Lane or by calling 304-295-5951. All Early Bird tickets will be entered into a special drawing for a medium Longaberger Monogram Basket.
The bingo event will include raffles, a 50/50 drawing and concessions.
Proceeds from the event will go to the 2012 Parkersburg Homecoming Festival, Aug. 17-19.
The budget for the festival comes from its fundraisers.
Moore expects, depending on how successful this bingo event is, that another event will be held before the festival in August. Also, sales for tickets for the Rubber Duck Derby, held during the festival, will start up this summer. The Rubber Ducky Derby remains one of the main revenue producers for the festival.
The money raised during these fundraisers means no gate admission is charged at the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival and the concerts remain free of charge.
''Through people's support, we will be able to put these events on for free,'' Moore said.
Doors at the Vienna Community Building will open at 6 p.m. and the bingo will start at 7 p.m.
