Ronald W. Walker, 65, of Parkersburg, died at his residence on April 12, 2012.

He was born in Parkersburg on Nov. 10, 1946, and was the son of the late Paul Willard and Elizabeth Dorthea Gates Walker.

He was a member of North End Church of Christ. He worked for C&P Telephone Co. and retired from Bell Atlantic in 2000. He had been working for Fibernet, Intellos and Lumos. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his grandchildren. He volunteered for over 25 years for the Big Red Football Coaches helping with their communication and for over 25 years with the Wood County Society with telephones for their telethon.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Barbara Walker; three sons, Ronald Samuel Walker of Boaz and Baron Andrew Walker and Aaron Wayne Walker, both of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Thomas Walker, Devan Walker, Kaylee Walker, Zachary Walker and Alyssa Walker; two sisters, Barbara (Steve) Wright of Roanoke, Va., and Kathy (Bill) Buckingham of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jonathan Paul Walker.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Steven Haguewood officiating. Burial will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Wood County Crippled Child Association or the Parkersburg High School Stadium Fund.
