Crash sends two to hospital

PARKERSBURG - Wood County Sheriff's Office is investigating a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon that sent two women to the hospital.

Deputies responded to W.Va. 47, near the intersection with Interstate 77, around 1 p.m. Monday. The female drivers of both vehicles were sent to Camden Clark Medical Center, said Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy.

According to officials, Diana Haithcock, 57, of Parkersburg, was traveling west on W.Va. 47 when she ran a red light and struck a Ford Crown Victoria, sending her vehicle into a nearby ditch.

The name and age of the other driver were unavailable Monday.

No citations were issued Monday, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
