Freedom is gone

March 11, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

There are two things on my mind this moment that show the arrogance and ineptitude of our elected representatives. These people are either incompetent or without compassion.

I wrote to 23 delegates in the House requesting they not pass HB 4023, that would make pseudoephedrine prescription-only rather than over the counter as it is now currently. One delegate had the courtesy to respond to my handwritten letter - Patrick Lane of the 32nd District.

Now, we have Sen. Stollings saying if passed, as he wants, a certain group of legitimate patients won't get the pain relief medicines they need to function. His response is too bad, tough for them.

You cannot feel another's pain and you should never knowingly inflict it but he is willing so that some "meth" makers have it difficult. The Hippocratic Oath states "inflict no pain." Has Dr. Stollings forgotten?

The other is "Real ID." States had the option to sign in and only 33 have. Even New York state has not signed on. Oh, but here the lapdog of Washington signs on. You have to prove you are a citizen. What fascist made this up?

The DMV has been renewing my license for decades. Now I have to prove my citizenship? This is outrageous. What business is it of the DMV what my tax bill says? Why should my wife have to produce a marriage license; a birth certificate is not enough? What about those of us not in possession of a document that no longer exists?

This Real ID is one half step from a sign of the beast tattoo showing fealty to the state.

We are done. Freedom is gone.
