PARKERSBURG -Steve Morgan, former executive vice president for Ohio Valley University, has been named as the new chair of West Virginia University at Parkersburg's division of business, economics and mathematics.

The college announced the hiring Friday, though officials said Morgan started in the position Jan. 26.

A certified public accountant, Morgan earned a bachelor of science in accounting from Lubbock Christian University and an M.B.A. from Wayland Baptist University, both in Lubbock, Texas. He is pursuing a doctorate through Northcentral University.

"Steve Morgan is an excellent addition to our college community and has already fully engaged himself in the life of the college in a short amount of time," said Rhonda Tracy, senior vice president for academic affairs for WVU-P. "We are very glad to have him on board as our business program seeks national accreditation."

During his time at OVU, Morgan at different times served as controller and lecturer, chief financial officer, chair of the school of business and information technology, dean for the college of business and as executive vice president.

"I am very passionate about higher education," said Morgan. "I believe WVU-P is uniquely positioned to do great things, and I look forward to working with the tremendous team of administrators and educators at this fine institution."

Morgan resides in Mineral Wells with his wife, Angie, and two children.
