PARKERSBURG - One woman was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle wreck at Murdoch Avenue and 37th Street.

Wood County Sheriff's Office and Parkersburg Fire Department responded to the wreck around 4 p.m. A green Ford Explorer and red Pontiac were involved.

Deputy Cory Six of the Wood County Sheriff's Office said the northbound Pontiac driven by Karen Six was struck by the Ford as it attempted to turn left onto 37th Street from Murdoch Avenue, across three lanes of traffic.

No citations were issued, but the investigation is ongoing, he said.

Karen Six was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center where she was treated and released.

A passenger in the Pontiac and the driver of the Ford were not injured. Their names were unavailable.

Lori Miller, owner of Parkersburg Coin Shop near the corner of 37th Street and Murdoch Avenue, witnessed the accident and assisted the injured woman until an ambulance arrived.

"I ran outside with a blanket, and she was on the pavement shaking profusely," said Miller. "I covered her up and tried to keep her still until someone got there."

Miller said she has witnessed dozens of accidents at the intersection over the years. A wreck took out a gasline in front of her shop last year, she said.

"Something needs to be done. A traffic light would solve all the problems," she said. "It seems like there are non-stop wrecks, as people are trying to turn to and from 37th Street."
