Greg and Vikki Herwald celebrated their 40th anniversary on Dec. 26 with close family members at their home. A family ski trip is planned for later this winter.
They were married in Olympia Fields, Ill., at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church.
She taught in Wood County Schools and was a longtime volunteer with St. Mark's Nursery School in Belpre, Black Diamond Girl Scouts, Allohak Boy Scouts and Belpre City Schools. She is a substitute teacher for Belpre City Schools.

He retired from Gress Equipment in Marietta in 2001 after 27 years with Deere & Co. and as a John Deere dealer. He was a basketball official for 10 years, announced football and basketball for Belpre High School and spent many years coaching Little League baseball, softball and basketball. He is a substitute teacher for Warren Local Schools.
They are the parents of two children, Audra (Kyle) Schlegel of Cincinnati, and Kyle (fiancee Angela) of Vienna.
They have one granddaughter, Madeline Schlegel.
