Gene and Velda Jones will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a private family dinner Aug. 21.
They were married on Aug. 19, 1951, by the late Rossing Smith at the home of the bride's grandmother, Mary M. Shamblin.
Mr. Jones is the eldest son of the late Harold and Rose Jones, and Mrs. Jones is the youngest daughter of the late Roy and Myrtle Bradley.

The couple have two daughters and sons-in-law; Becky and Jeff Martin of Ellenboro and Andrea and Alan Sinnett of Williamstown. They have four grandchildren, Nick and (Sarah) Martin of East Sparta, Ohio, and Philip and Andrew Sinnett of Williamstown. They also have twin granddaughters, Sadie and Abby Martin of East Sparta.
They are active members in the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
Mr. Jones has held several positions over the years in the church as Sunday school teacher, lay-leader, choir director and song leader.
He was named West Virginia Man of the Year in 1996 by the United Methodist Men West Virginia Conference.
Mrs. Jones has held several positions over the years as the resident church comedienne, Sunday School teacher and church secretary. They couple is active with Gideons International.
Mr. Jones is retired from professional photography, having worked for Paul Jack Studios, Pappas Brothers and Banner Printing. Mrs. Jones has worked at Dils Brothers, Criss Concrete and the Masonic fraternity before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
