MINERAL WELLS - A Mineral Wells man has been charged with murder in the shooting of his stepson Sunday night during an argument at his residence.

Randall Lee White, 56, of 3335 Butcher Bend Road, was arraigned on a felony charge of murder Monday in Wood County Magistrate Court in the death of his stepson, 36-year-old Scott Andrew Daggett.

Since the charge involves a capital offense, White must appear in Wood County Circuit Court to determine if bond will be set and what amount it might be. White was transported Monday afternoon to the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.

According to the criminal complaint filed in magistrate court Monday, White and Daggett became involved in an argument Sunday night at White's residence. When Daggett approached White, he went to a place in the room where he kept a semi-automatic handgun. The complaint alleges White pulled the gun out of a hiding place, chambered a round and fired one time at Daggett.

Wood County Coroner Mike St. Clair said emergency personnel arrived at the home and began resuscitation efforts as Daggett was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus. Daggett was pronounced dead at 10:04 p.m. Sunday at the hospital, he said.
