John and Jean Newton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 10.
He is the son of the late Dr. J. Willard Newton and Alice Newton of Hagerstown, Md. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 38 years of service as an engineer.
She is the daughter of the late William DeAlton Bedell Sr. and Marian Bedell of Baltimore, Md. She worked for the Diamond, West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and Parkersburg Floral.

They are the parents of five children, James (Dolly) Newton of San Diego, Calif., Jeffrey Newton of Parkersburg, Jennifer (Jim) Dynda of La Palma, Calif., Joyanna (Jeff) Jobes of Vienna and Jeremy (Joanna) Newton of Cleveland, Ohio.
They have seven grandchildren, Nathan and Taylor Johnson, John and Josh Jobes, Mary and John Dynda and Daniel Lapuz.
A private celebration for family and friends will be held on June 18 at their home.
