House explosion reported in far northeast Ohio

ORWELL, Ohio (AP) — Authorities responding to a report of a house explosion in far northeast Ohio say one person is unaccounted for and injuries were reported.

An explosion was reported Wednesday evening in the village of Orwell, roughly 45 miles east of Cleveland.

Orwell Fire Chief Joe Albergo told WEWS-TV that the explosion was reported around 6:45 p.m. and one person was unaccounted for.

Ashtabula County Sheriff Bill Johnson told WJW-TV that there were injuries but that the number and extent of those injuries wasn't immediately clear.

A dispatcher at the sheriff's office said by phone that no further information was immediately available.
