Carl Bernard Jarvis, 97, of Minnora, W.Va., died Monday, March 14, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Clarksburg following a short illness.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Margaret P. Metheney Jarvis; twin sons, who died at birth; three brothers, Cecil Jarvis, Bruce Jarvis and Curt Jarvis; four sisters, Dessie Jett, Maysel Stalnaker, Olive Grace (Happy) Deweese and Geneva Badgett. Also Carl Bernard Siers, his parents Calvin Spencer Jarvis and Ora Alice Parsons Jarvis.
He is survived by one son of his marriage, Randy L. Jarvis (wife Carolyn) of Parkersburg; two daughters, Anita West (husband Ben) of Mt. Zion and Beverly Harold (husband Randy) of Chloe; two grandsons, Gregory Allen Eagle (wife Shannon) of Kentuck, W.Va., Jayson Jarvis (wife Cheryl) of Hickory, N.C., and two granddaughters, Erika Harold of Frankfort, Ohio, Leah Harold of Morgantown, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren, Ace Isaac Eagle of Kentuck, Anderson Garrett Jarvis and Amelia Grace Jarvis of Hickory, N.C.; three brothers, Bill, Charter, and Gary Jarvis of Chloe, W.Va.; four sisters, Rilma Chandler of Beaufort, S.C., Bonnie Ellison of Chloe, Madeline Hardway of Chelyan, W.Va., Nell Deweese of Spencer, and personal care provider, Judy Allison.
Also Lowell (Buddy) (wife Dora) of Ripley, and Oval Jarvis of Wooster, Ohio. and other grandchildren.
Carl was a WWII veteran and a member of the Milo Church.
Viewing will be today from 6-9 p.m. and military funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg.
Burial will be at Minnora Cemetery. Lunch will be served following the burial at the Upper West Fork Park. Pastor Rick Metheney officiating.
