Sharon Marie Higginbotham, 44, formerly of Mesa, Ariz., died in her sleep on Feb. 22, 2011, in Enfield, N.C.
Born in Parkersburg on May 25, 1966, she was a 1988 graduate of Parkway Special Education Public School in Mesa. Sharon had been involved with Special Olympics in her younger years and had a lifelong love of music, dancing, reading/coloring magazines, and taking walks.
She was preceded in death by her eldest brother, Christopher Lee Higginbotham of Parkersburg; and father, William Francis Higginbotham of Harrisville, W.Va.
Sharon is survived by her mother, Doris Elizabeth (Doyle) Higginbotham; her siblings, John David Higginbotham (Reenee), Ann Frances Bennett (Rick) and Mary Louise Schmiester; niece, Amanda Schmiester; and nephews, Michael Higginbotham and William Bennett.
Sharon now resides with our Lord Jesus in Heaven. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Mortuary Chapel, 1562 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85204. Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Thursday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 141 N. Macdonald St., Mesa, AZ 85201, with interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
She may have made us alternately laugh, cry and worry over the years, but to know Sharon was to know pure love, for which we will be eternally grateful - she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have been a part of her life.
