Sheppard - Megenhardt

Brooke Nicole Sheppard and Jesse Edward Megenhardt were united in marriage on July 17, 2010, at Richland United Methodist Church in Athens, Ohio, with Pastor Karen Crawford officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Isaac (Bill) and Beverly Sheppard of Belpre. She is the granddaughter of the late Earl and Melva Sheppard of Belpre and the late Mayford and Dorothy Eakins of Parkersburg.

The groom is the son of the late Robert Megenhardt of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and late Judy Collins Megenhardt of Baltimore, Md. He is the grandson of Dora Lee and Howard Dawson of Edgewater, Fla. He is the nephew of the late Susan Miller Eichinger and Paul Miller owners of Cannon Limited in Coolville, Ohio.

The bride was given in marriage by her mother and father. The bride's gown was a slim A-line stretch satin gown with corset closure. It had a lace shoulder strap glowing with beaded embellishments and a contemporary balloon hem train. The bride's shoes were custom designed purple peep toe pumps with a beaded applique that matched the dress's embellishments. The bride wore a custom bird cage veil with a crystal and pearl fascinator. The bride's garters were made by cousin Jane McCullors of Belpre.

The bridal bouquet was of green hydrangeas and cream roses and wrapped around the bouquet was the bride's great-aunt Margaret Mayes' handkerchief.

The groom wore a chocolate tuxedo with a deep purple paisley tie, accompanied by brown Converse hi-tops.

Margaret Mayes of Little Hocking, read Proverbs 31:10-12 and Ephesians 5:25-31 while Jane McCullors, cousin of the bride, read the "Art of Marriage" by Wilferd A. Peterson. Concluding the ceremony, cousins of the groom, Tammy Lantz and Marcie Hedges both of Coolville, read "I Carry Your Heart" by e.e. Cummings.

Maid of honor was Liz Wood of Columbus, and bridesmaids were Crystal Oechsle of Maynard, Mass., and Rebecca Miller of Coolville. The best man was Andrew Baker of Fort Wayne, Ind., and groomsmen were Jimmy Bennett of Belpre, Stephan Oechsle of Maynard and Chris Batty of Loveland, Ohio.

The ring bearer was Greyson Lantz and flower girls were Nataley Lantz, Georgia Hedges and Suzie Buffington. The guestbook and program attendants were Chelsea Lantz and Kennedy Lantz. All are cousins of the groom and from Coolville.

The reception took place at Ohio University's Baker University Center Grand Ballroom in Athens. The cake was a round four-tiered cake with a dark brown ribbon around each tier.

The cake was decorated with a purple hydrangea with ribbon on the side.

The bride is the 2003 graduate of Belpre High School and 2007 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor' degree in communication.

She is employed at Total Quality Logistics in Cincinnati, as a national sales recruiter.

The groom is the 2001 graduate of Federal Hocking High School and a 2007 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in industrial technology engineering. He is employed at Itron North America in Owenton, Ky., as a manufacturing engineer manager.

After a honeymoon to Florida and a Caribbean cruise, The couple reside in Burlington.
