Kyla Marie Barr and Joshua David Bowles were united in marriage on Aug. 14, 2010, at Calvary Memorial Church in Parkersburg. Pastor Brian Harrell officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Leroy and Brenda Collins of Ravenswood. She is the granddaughter of Mervyn and Pat Lott of Washington. She is a 2005 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and a 2010 graduate of West Liberty University, with a bachelor's and associate's degrees in dental hygiene. She is employed at Dr. Delli-Gatti and Associates dental office.
The groom is the son of David and Melanie Bowles of Parkersburg. He is the grandson of Jerry and Barbara Bowles of Vienna, and the late Billy and Ethel Pickens. He is a 2003 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and a 2008 graduate of West Virginia University at Parkersburg, with a bachelor's degree in business administration and an associate's degree in computer information systems. He is employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a corporate trainer.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and mother. The bride wore a white, strapless, allover draped taffeta, trumpet-style dress, with button back and sweep train. The bride's look was completed with a white feathered flower hairpiece and rhinestone encrusted bangle bracelets. She carried a bouquet of green hydrangeas, white pom poms and white spider mums wrapped in white satin ribbon adorned with a rhinestone encrusted flower.
Serving as maid of honor was Terra Oliver of Cambridge, Ohio, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Sarra Barr of Fairmont, sister of the bride; Angie Niehaus of Huntington, friend of the bride; and Brittany Beavers of New Cumberland, Ohio, friend of the bride. They wore knee-length, black, corset back, silk taffeta dresses with a ruffle running down and across the dress and carried bouquets of green hydrangeas, white pom poms and white spider mums wrapped in black satin ribbon adorned with a rhinestone encrusted flower.
Serving as best man was Kyle Bowles of Parkersburg,brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Nathen Pickens of Washington; Bryce Pickens of Belpre;and Wes Pickens of Washington, all cousins of the groom. The groom and the groomsman wore gray tuxes with white shirts. They had apple green and gray paisley print ties and hankies. The groom wore a gray vest and the groomsman wore black vests.
Serving as ring bearer was Gideon Wilson of Parkersburg, family friend of the groom. He wore black pants, a white shirt, and a black pinstripe vest with a matching green paisley tie.
The flower girls were Alex Queen of Parkersburg, family friend of the bride; and Faith Pickens of Washington, second cousin to the groom. The flower girls wore floor length apple green dresses with a black satin ribbon around the waist that had a white flower in the middle.
The guest register was Kaitlyn Bowles of Parkersburg, sister of the groom. Programs were passed out by Katy Bowles of Parkersburg, sister-in-law to the groom; and Kaiti Gallagher of Bridgeport, Ohio, friend of the bride.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom took a 1955 Chevy Bel Air to the DuPont Park Activities Building. The building was decorated with floor-length black table cloths with black and white damask print table runners. On a square mirror sat tall vases filled with green granny smith apples and water surrounded by tea-lights.
As a favor to the guest green apples were sat at each place setting. The cake was three tiers of chocolate and vanilla covered in butter cream icing. Each tier had a black satin ribbon around the bottom. The cake topper was a green apple with a "B" coming out of the top. The entire cake sat on a floating piece of glass with green apples placed under it.
After returning from their honeymoon to Cozumel, Mexico, the couple resides in Parkersburg.
