Newspaper creates excitement with contest

August 29, 2010
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

PARKERSBURG - General Motors is on the brink of releasing for sale its new, sporty, small car, the Chevy Cruze and the very first one made for retail sale could end up in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The Parkersburg News and Sentinel has teamed up with its sister newspaper, the Tribune Chronicle in Warren, Ohio, and Pioneer Chevrolet in Marietta, to offer our readers a chance to win this historic car.

In today's newspaper Pioneer Chevrolet has published an entry blank within its advertisement that can be filled out and deposited at the dealership for a chance to win the new Cruze. Entries must be on official entry forms published in the newspaper, but no purchase is necessary. If you want a free entry form, stop by the newspaper during business hours and request a Cruze giveaway entry form.

The entries must be deposited at Pioneer Chevrolet between now and Oct. 11.

The drawing to determine the winner will be on Oct. 15.

At that time, only the winning community will be announced. Currently, 19 newspaper markets are participating in the chance to win the car. The newspaper in the winning community will then notify the lucky winner.

The following small to medium markets across the country will participate in the giveaway: Warren, Lisbon, Tiffin, Salem, East Liverpool, Marietta, Martins Ferry and Steubenville in Ohio; Marquette, Alpena and Iron Mountain in Michigan; Dunkirk in New York; Altoona, Warren and Lewistown in Pennsylvania; Marshalltown and Fort Dodge in Iowa; Cape Coral in Florida; and Parkersburg, Martinsburg, Weirton and Wheeling in West Virginia.

The News and Sentinel has sister newspapers in all of those markets.

"We are fortunate to be able to offer our readers a chance to win this beautiful automobile," said News and Sentinel Publisher Jim Spanner. "We appreciate that Pioneer Chevrolet is willing to help with this exciting giveaway. It would be great to be able to surprise someone right here in the Mid-Ohio Valley with a brand new Cruze."

Official rules for the contest can be found on the Internet at extras.tribtoday.com/cruze/rules.
