Roger VanFosson

Roger Duane VanFosson, 58, of Parkersburg passed away Dec. 24, 2009, at his residence after a five-year battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 16, 1951, in Ravenswood, a son of the late Hollis and Nelda (Balderson) VanFosson.

Roger was a former employee of Hope Gas, DeBarr Trucking, Vienna Exxon and Affordable Used Cars. He was a 1969 graduate of Ravenswood High School. Roger was an auto mechanic and enjoyed working on older cars.

Surviving is his loving wife, Martha (Eagle) VanFosson; two sons, Chris (Lori) VanFosson and Todd (Cycrecia) VanFosson, both of Sandyville; granddaughter, Georgia Ann VanFosson of Sandyville; sister, Sharon (Don) Wilkinson of Mineral Wells; two stepdaughters, Judy Sargent of Parkersburg and Shontel Eagle of Little Hocking, Ohio; two stepgrandsons, Devin and Trea Sargent of Parkersburg; stepgranddaughter, Jaden Eagle of Little Hocking; niece, Mary (Jon) Dawson of Columbus, Ohio; two great-nephews, Ian and Evan Dawson of Columbus, Ohio; and good friend, Jodie Bodine.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, G. N. and Mary (Frame) VanFosson; maternal grandparents, Sylvester and Dora (Thomas) Balderson; and niece, Melinda Williams.

In following with Roger's wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of his family and his cremated remains will be laid to rest on the family farm in Jackson County.
