MARIETTA, Ohio - Postseason baseball will make its return to Don Schaly Stadium in 2010.

The NCAA office announced Thursday (Dec. 17) afternoon that Marietta College will host the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, which is scheduled to take place May 19-23, 2010.

"We are thrilled to bring the Mideast Regional back to Marietta," Head baseball coach Brian Brewer said. "This is exciting news not only for our program and Marietta College but for the Marietta community as a whole."

NCAA Division III postseason baseball has a long, successful history in Marietta. Don Schaly Stadium, formerly Pioneer Park, was the site of the NCAA Division III World Series from 1976-87. It has also hosted the Mideast Regional on 11 previous occasions, 1971, 1988, 1990-92, 1994-97, 2001-02.

Marietta will be one of 8 hosts for the 2010 NCAA Division III Regional baseball tournament. The winners of each regional will advance to the NCAA Division III World Series May 26-June 1 in Grand Chute, Wis.

Marietta has won a record 4 NCAA Division III titles-1981, 1983, 1986, 2006-and finished national runner-up on 7 other occasions. The Etta Express has also captured 7 of the 11 Mideast Regional titles decided in Marietta.
