Jaclyn Nicole Mathews and Brent Matthew Shedd were united in marriage on June 6, 2009, at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church in Parkersburg. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Scott Sears.
The bride is the daughter of Bob and Kim Mathews of Washington, W.Va. She is the granddaughter of Francis and Florence Eshelman of Hyde Park, Pa., Margaret Mathews of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and the late Russell Mathews.
The groom is the son of Bill and Christi Shedd of Parkersburg. He is the grandson of Bill and Helen Cowen of Parkersburg, Bill Shedd of Parkersburg and the late Darlena Shedd.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a formal gown of white silk taffeta. The sweetheart neckline was jeweled with crystals and bugle beads. The long line bodiced gown flowed into a mermaid pick up skirt. The back of the gown corseted and flowed into a chapel-length train. The bride's headpiece was two layered shoulder length tuelle with scattered beading.
The bride's bouquet was white calla lilies with a white satin and pearl band and she carried a white Bride's Bible that has been carried by generations of her father's family.
Maid of honor was Jordan Mathews, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amber Mathess of Parkersburg, Stacy Jarvis of South Beach, Fla., Katrina Zell of Parkersburg, Brittany Knapp of Parkersburg, Rachel Torlone of Huntington, W.Va., Jennifer Hall of Huntington and Katie Radcliffe of Mineral Wells, all friends of the bride. Each wore a formal strapless royal blue silk taffeta long line bodiced gown with a mermaid skirt. The attendants carried orange calla lilies with a silver and pearl band.
Best man was Billy Shedd, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Luke Sheppard of Parkersburg, Donivan Slack of Cranberry, Pa., Scott Branham of Arlington, Va., Eddie Knapp of Parkersburg, Scott Matthews of Huntington, Chad Brace of Houston, Texas, and Clint Radcliffe of Mineral Wells, all friends of the groom.
The flower girl was 6-month-old Alaina Knapp, daughter of friends of the bride and groom. The ring bearer was 4-year-old Landon Shedd, nephew of the groom. The flower girl was assisted down the aisle in a decorated wagon pulled by the ring bearer.
Bob Mathews, father of the bride, sang "You Raise Me Up" during the seating of the parents. Tony Bush, friend of the bride, played guitar and sang "I'm Yours" for the processional for the attendants. The "Lord's Prayer" was sung by the father of the bride during the service. Lindsay States and Lisa Tackett, friends of the bride, and Ean Eshelman, cousin of the bride, registered guests and served as greeters.
The dinner reception and dance was held at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. The bride designed and baked the three-tiered beach theme wedding cake.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. She attended Marshall University and Marshall University Culinary School. She is employed by Buckle.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. He graduated from WVU-P in 2009 with a degree in accounting. He is employed by Pepsi-Cola.
The couple honeymooned in Jamaica and reside in Mineral Wells.
