William A. McIntyre

William Arthur "Art" McIntyre, 64, of Coolville, Ohio, passed away Nov. 12, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Marietta, the son of the late Earl Leslie and Eudora Lint McIntyre.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had worked as a boilermaker for many years. He was a member of the Coolville Masonic Lodge 337. He was an avid horseman and horse lover, he was a Spotted Saddle Horse Inspector and was a commissioner with the Racking Horse Association. He at one time bred horses having owned five stallions at one time. He owned and operated Open Gaits Farm, where he bred and raised Tennessee Walking Horses. He raised a Colt named "Hiram" from the bottle until it was full grown, "Hiram" became ill and also passed away on Nov. 12, 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia L. "Pat" Roush McIntyre of Coolville, Ohio; his children, John McIntyre of Spencer, W.Va., Brenda Mitchem of Jacksonville, Fla., Gary Warne of Coolville and Mark Warne of Whipple, Ohio; his grandchildren, Travis, John and Kati McIntyre, T.J. Gaughan, Amber Littleton and Jessica and Jennifer Smith; his great-grandson, Christopher Taylor; his brothers, Earl "Butch" McIntyre of Marietta and George McIntyre of Williamstown; and his sisters, Donna and Rita Fisher, both of Williamstown.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Howard, David and Jack McIntyre; and a special sister-in-law, Dorothy McIntyre.

There will be no visitation and a service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg.
