Police: Charges filed against Wirt assessor
ELIZABETH - Charges were filed Monday against Wirt County Assessor Debbie Hennen, but officials with the West Virginia State Police would not release the specific charges or the nature of the investigation.
"Charges were filed against her, but I cannot comment on what those charges are at this time," said Trooper G.W. McCullough with the West Virginia State Police detachment in Elizabeth.
McCullough said Sgt. Aaron Nichols of the state police would be available today to answer questions about the case.
Wirt County Commissioner Charles Murray said Monday he did not know what charges were brought against Hennen.
"It's my understanding that the state police arrested her today, but we just don't know what the charges are," Murray said.
A dispatcher with the West Virginia State Police headquarters in Charleston Monday evening said questions should be directed to the public information officer who would be available today.
Telephone calls to Hennen Monday night were not returned.

Wirt County is lucky to have Sargent Nichols in their detachment. He's doing a tremendous job! You know a State Police officer is doing a good job when the citizens are complaining about him! It's quite simple...OBEY THE LAW!

Being from Wirt County I can tell you. The police there do whatever, however they want same as everyplace else in WV. Laws don't apply to them common decency plays no roll. Remember Wirt county for years had a trooper posted there, this was his home town so everyone just hoped he didn't have a grudge against you from highschool, while at the same time his mother was magistrate. Talk about tag team'n a guy. He'd bag'm she'd tag'm and justice always prevailed. If you belived what they said at the courthouse anyways.

Gorilla, police reports are public documents. If they have filed charges, withholding the charges from the public is illegal. They are now in violation of W.Va. sunshine laws and have five days to comply.

I'm sure Ms. Hennen and her attorney knows the charges filed against her. The article says the public will hear comments from the state police today.
